Quotes Section 1&2

"He's just trying to make us pity on him.  What an imagination he has!" (Elie pg. 17)

I think this mean that he has made the whole story up just so they will feel bad for him.  He is the type of person that would use his wild imagination to make the story up just so they would take pity on him.  It means that he wants everyone to feel bad for him and help him.

"However, our first impressions of the Germans were most reassuring." (Elie pg. 19)

I think this means their first impressions of the Germans were right.  They were supporting the Germans and in return the Germans were treating and being polite to the the Jews. Thus, giving the Jews a reassuring feeling.  They never would ask for anything more than the impossible and they never put them down.

Overall you did very well. Watch your use of grammer and the way you cite a quote. According to Alanna, it's supposed to look like (Wiesel 17) or something like that.

The first thing I noticed was that you cited the quote incorrectly. It should be (Wiesel 17) actually. Reading the analysis, I noticed that you had been analytical enough, but still left some vague points that sort of left me hanging. I know what it means, but what does it say about the character? Overall, good job on it. However, in the second one, beside the incorrect citation, it was not a very correct point. The Germans did not in fact treat them politely, just not as bad as they did later on during the Holocaust. The Jews just thought it would all blow over but even with the slight rudeness, still felt secure, just in bad times. Also, ask yourself, what does this say about the Germans? Were they deceiving at first to lure in the Jews? What does this say about the Jews? Overall, pretty good job.
